Ride Elba Island with Atlas MTB: Tuscany’s ultimate MTB adventure

One of the things that makes mountain biking in Tuscany so special is just how much variety you can pack into a single trip. Through our partnership with Atlas MTB, riders get access to some of the very best terrain the region has to offer- from rocky, technical coastal singletrack to fast, flowing trails deeper inland as the elevation rises.
Atlas MTB tours explore classic mainland riding spots such as Piombino, Punta Ala, Massa Marittima and Campiglia Marittima, but what really elevates the experience is the chance to take your riding offshore to Elba Island.

A day trip like no other: Tuscany to Elba island
Just 10km off the Tuscan coast, Elba Island is reached by a 40-minute ferry from Piombino, with frequent daily crossings that make it ideal for a day’s riding. Bikes are easily transported on board, and the crossing itself is part of the adventure- espresso in hand, sea views all around, and the chance to spot dolphins as Elba’s hillside towns come into view.
Elba Island is included as part of every Atlas MTB Tuscany tour, weather permitting, giving riders the opportunity to experience a completely different style of riding in the same trip.

Guided riding, uplifts & local knowledge
Elba’s trails run from the summit of Monte Capanne (just over 1,000m) all the way down to the sea. With steep terrain and a sprawling trail network, uplift support is essential- something Atlas MTB takes care of for you.
With experienced local guides leading the way, you’ll make the most of your limited time on the island, riding the best trails at the right pace, without worrying about logistics, ferry schedules or navigation.
The Riding on Elba: Something for Everyone
Elba offers an incredible mix of riding styles, and Atlas MTB carefully selects routes based on your tour and bike choice:
Bike Land Ovest
The most bike-park-style riding on the island, with berms, jumps and wooden features. Perfect for riders looking for structured, flow-focused trails.
Central Elba
Raw, natural and technical riding. Expect tight, rocky singletrack, steep sections and stunning coastal views. Trails like Barbatoja DH reward the effort with unforgettable descents.
Capoliveri Bike Park
The largest concentration of trails on the island, best suited to E-bikes thanks to its interconnected layout and elevation-holding design. A great mix of progressive and technical terrain.
North East Elba
Home to some of the island’s most iconic trails, including Bocca di Bandito — a true adventure ride featuring ridgeline singletrack, loose rock, fast sections and big, sweeping gullies. A must-ride for experienced mountain bikers.
Food, Beaches & Post-Ride Recovery
As you’d expect from Italy, post-ride life on Elba is hard to beat. Great food, strong coffee, cold beers and beautiful beaches are never far away. Atlas MTB guides steer riders away from busy port areas and towards the quieter spots where you’ll find the real character of the island.
